WHIRLWIND CAUSES MANY CASUALTIES.
THREE KILLED, 80 HURT AND 130 HOUSES WRECKED (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received June 20, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 19. The Berlin correspondent of “ The Times ” says that three w’ere killed and 80 injured, and ,130 houses were wrecked in a whirlwind which swept the Else Valley, Westphalia. uprooted beams and scaffolding and roofs and fencing which were blown into the air. Sturdy trees were uprooted. Tiles, sent hurtling in the air, caused most of the casualties. The gale was followed by terrific thunderstorms. Lightning struck a big farm at Macklemburg and set fire to a sheep shed, burning 400 sheep.— 44 Times ” cable.
