A donation of £22 6s 5d for the Earthquake Relief Fund was received by the Mayor (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.) from Sauerman Bros., machinery manufacturers, of Chicago, U.S.A. Copies of newspapers giving an account of the earthquake were sent to the firm by Booth, Macdonald and Co., Ltd., of Christchurch, and they forwarded a donation of 100 dollars, which ha 9 been exchanged into its equivalent in English money. The Mayor expressed appreciation of the firm’s action in sending the donation to the fund.
