Professor J. E. L. Cull arrived from the north this morning. Sergeant W. P. Gilligan arrived from Timaru this morning to take over Addington station.
Sir Thomas Sidey, Attorney-General, was a paassenger on the ferry steamer for Wellington last evening. Mr A. O. Wilkinson left last night on a business trip to Auckland. Mr R. A. Anderson, of Invercargill, a director of the Bank of New Zealand, is at present in Wellington. Mr Peter Graham, of Waiho Gorge, South Westland, is visiting Wellington, and will return to the south, on Friday. Messrs E. Lindquist (Stockholm) and W % J. Hobson and R. C. Somerville (Wellington) are staying at the New City Hotel. Sir John Roberts and Messrs G. R. Ritchie and S. K. Sleigh, directors of the Union Steam Ship Company, were passengers by the ferry steamer from Wellington this morning. Sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr H. A. Glasson, chairman of the New Brighton School Committee, was expressed at the meeting of the Canterbury School Committees’ Association last night. Messrs G. R. Brierley (Melbourne), J. M. Gamble, R. W. Henry, L. R. Hill, F. H. Whatley (Wellington) and Pemberthy (Dunedin) are recent arrivals at the United Service Hotel. Mr F. R. Callaghan, of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, arrived from Wellington this morning to attend the meeting of the Wheat Research Institute. Messrs R. J. Murphy, K. Wilkinson (Wellington), H. Holroyd (Auckland), P. Warren (Palmerston North), and J. Harris (Napier) are guests at Warner’s Hotel. Flying Officer C. C. Manson, of Christchurch, has been elected a member of the Hampshire (England) Aeroplane Club. Mr Manson is stationed at the Royal Air Force School of Balloon Training, Rollestone Camp, Salisbury Plain.
