Spiritualists Fees.
To th« Editor. Dear Sir, —It is quite evident that the laws of the Spiritualist Church do not allow fortune-telling for monetary gain. Nevertheless. I have been to twt* or three meetings where this is done. Let me describe one. A plate was handed round on which we were expected to put two-and*six. Then the medium, from each of us in turn, asked for a personal belonging. On receiving it she told us out fortune. She certainly mentioned dead relatives, but her main theme was the material side of our existence. She also made no secret of the monetary gain part. At another meeting it was given out that the medium was prepared to give private readings. On asking the fee from the man at the door I was informed that it was five shillings. I have had a private reading from a Christchurch Spiritualist—fee five shillings, and conducted exactly like a fortune-teller. I have nothing against Spiritualism nor fortune-telling at their meetings. My only question is: “ Why take fortune-tellers to court and fine them while others do the same thing under the cloak of religion?”— I am, etc., SISTER ANN
