DR HIGHT TO ATTEND EMPIRE CONGRESS.

Dr J. Hight, rector of Canterbury College, has been granted leave of absence for the second term of the current session to enable him to represent New Zealand at the Congress of the Universities of the British Empire, to be held in London and Edinburgh. Whtn the matter was brought forward at the meeting of the Canterbury College Board of Governors, Mr C. T. Aschman said that the conference was made possible through the Carnegie Institute. It was fitting that the rector, who had been the South Island ap-

pointee, should be given an opportunity of. keeping in touch with other universities. The Board of*Governors granted the rector leave of absence, and congratulated him on his appointment.
