JUDGES APPOINTED FOR POULTRY SHOW. Mr F. E. Martyn presided over a good attendance of members at a meeting of the North Canterbury Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Club at Rangiora on Saturday evening. Motions of sympathy were passed with the relatives of the late Messrs J. W. Foster and J. J. Matthews, both of whom were patrons of the club. _ Considerable time was spent in revising the schedule for the coming show, novice and amateur classes being added in the canary section. and the kitten classes in the cat section extended. The following show judges were appointed:—Heavy breeds, open and utility, Mr T. Loveday; light breeds, Mr G. H. Bradford; ducks and bantams, Mr A. Gapes; canaries, Mr R. W. Thompson; fancy pigeons, Mr F. W. Chambers: fancy work, Mrs A. Bust: cookery, Mrs J. Fleming; photographv, Mr H. D. Bettger; cats, Mr T. Wilkinson; fruit. Mr F. Sisson; roots. Mr W. Stalker Memorial Service. At the Rangiora Methodist Church on Sunday evening, a memorial service
was held for thb late Mr J\ J. Matthews. The Rev S,. Henderson, in his address, made special reference to the late Mr Matthews’s lifelong connection with the church, and especially to his work as a trustee. At the close a motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives. Solomon Islands Mission. A social, organised by the Young W omen s .Methodist Bible Classes for the purpose of raising funds to support a sister in the Solomon Islands mission, was held on Saturday evening in the
Methodist Schoolroom. There was a good attendance of young people. The evening was spent in competitions, charades, games and music. * W.C.T.U. Meeting. The monthly meeting of the Rangiora Branch of the W.C.T.U. on Fridav took the form of a “ bring and buv ” afternoon. Mrs Henderson presided over a fair attendance. Mrs Taylor gave the ‘ scientific temperance fact ” It was decided that an L.T.L. be formed in Rangiora, Mrs A. Smith and Mrs /King to be joint superintendents. >
