WORK APPRECIATED.
Per Press Association. NAPIER, March 30. Major S. C. P. Nicholls, D. 5.0., who has been in charge of operations in Napier so far as the military are concerned, since the early days after the ’quake, particularly in connection with the Nelson Park Camp, and who leaves in the morning on his return to Wellington, was met by a large number of citizens to-night and was accorded a warm farewell. Numerous speakers representing all sections of the public, referred in most appreciative terms to the valuable work of the Major, who was presented with an inscribed cigarette case as a memento. For the first ten days in Napier, Major Nicholls had a most strenuous time, but his wonderful organisation soon produced order out of chaos.
