PIGEON FLYING
PREMIER SOCIETY. The Christchurch Premier Pigeon Club conducted a young bird race from Studholme Junction on Saturday. A strong north-east wind throughout the journey was responsible for the slow times recorded. The winning bird, owned by Mr L. Rolton, flew the 519 miles 793 yards air line in 41irs 30nii»i lSsee. Rolton wins the nominated bird prize. Xaiapoi Society. The Kaiapoi Racing Pigeon Society held a young bird race on Saturday. Six lofts were liberated against a strong north-easi wind. The winner, owned* bv J. Anderson, flew the distance of »5 miles 73 chains air line in 3hr lmin 2-lsec. The velocities were as follows: —J. Anderson’s Higgsie, 834yds per minute; W. Anderson’s Hogan Star, 533; L. Taylor’s Silver Tip, 820; Morris and Revell’s Koj-otuelia, 825; Gordon and Gillett’s Snapshot. 780. ,T. Anderson won the nominated bird prize.
