MANY PEOPLE VISIT SLOOP LABURNUM
A large crowd visited H.M.S. Laburnum at Lyttelton yesterday afternoon. The vessel sailed for Dunedin this morning. She will stay at Dunedin for a week, and later will visit Timaru and Wellington. Lyttelton Golf Club. The first medal match of the season was played by members of the Lyttelton Golf Club on the Charteris Bay links during the week-end. The men’s section was "won by D. E. L. Collett, 86-18-68. F. Knight 76-6-70, and K. Gower 98-28*70 were runners-up. In the women’s section Miss V. Williams 95-25-70, Miss E. Ayers 94-24-70, and Miss R. Sutcliffe 105-35-70, tied for first place. Tennis Tourney. A combined doubles tournament was played on Saturday afternoon on the Te Whaka Tenis Club’s courts. There was a large entry. The winners were J. Stephens and Miss P. Rhind.
