PAVING THE WAY TO PEACE OF EUROPE AND THE WORLD.
Italian Minister Comments On The Naval Agreement With France .
(United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received March 16, 9.5 a.m.) ROME, March 15.
The naval agreement leaves no victors and no vanquished; it is a victory for fair play and commonsense,” declared Signor Grandi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, when addressing the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber. The practical effect was to give a relative advantage to Italy in modern ships, and to France in over-age ships. The agreement safeguarded the Italian viewpoint while allowing a one-third reduction in the Italian and French building programmes. It created the atmosphere required for the solution of other problems in the peace of Europe and the world, pointing the way to a reduction of land and air armaments.
