WITH THE GOLFERS AT SHIRLEY LINKS.
SEASON OPENS IN PERFECT WEATHER
Mixed events are always popular at the Shirley links and Saturday, when the official opening of the 1931 season took place, was no exception. The afternoon was perfect and the colourful frocks worn by the women players added to the brightness of the occasion. The popular A. E. G. Rhodes’s Bowl was competed for and Dr Stanle\ r and partner were the winners with an excellent score. The members and friends were entertained by the president (Mr Norton Francis) and the club captain (Sir Cyril Ward), at afternoon tea, the dining room being decorated for the occasion with autumn flow’ers.
