CARNEGIE FELLOWSHIP OFFERED PROF. SHELLEY.
Professor JamesSSheller,3 r , Professor of Education at Canterbury College, has been offered a travelling fellowship of the Carnegie Institute, of New York, by which he is entitled to a special term of travel and study. A grant of £SOO goes with the fellowship, but there no restrictions as to where it is to be used. Such offers have been rare in the dominion, there hfve been previous eases. The Institute was foun4ed by Mr Carnegie for the pur* pase of developing international interest in academic subjects, and for this purpose the fellowships are awarded at various times. Professor Shelley is not 3'et certain whether he will accept the fellowship, though it is largely a question of being granted the. necessary leave.
