AUCKLAND BUSINESS. (Special to the “ Star.’’) AUCKLAND, March 16. This morning bidding for bank shares was not so keen as last week, and in some cases buyers dropped their limits. The highest bid for Commercials, which sold last week up to 16s 6d, was 15s Bd. For Unions the best buyers stopped at £8 7s 6d, and for Nationals at ?5. A sale of Nationals of Australasia at £lO 12s 6d, was £1 17s 6d below the last local transaction in November, but was well up to recent quotations. There was a better demand for Government loans and higher rates ruled, both for taxable and non-taxable, particularly the latter. The insurance section evoked a good lemand and buyers for New Zealands moved up to 41s. Bycroft's were easiet with sellers at 26s 3d. In breweries, 37s was offered for New Zealands and 21s 6d for Tooths. DUNEDIN MARKETS. (Special to the “Star.’’) DUNEDIN, • March 16.
