varsity crew chosen.
The finals of the Canterbury College ,trial fours were reached on Saturday afternoon, when two races over the mile course were held. The trials were for the annual inter-varsity tournament, to be held at Easter for the Hebberly Shield. Results:—
First Race—D. V. Alston (str.), D. E Alexander, E. H. Carew and L. L. Hos•king beat D.' M. Patterson (str.), R. M. Simmers, R. A. Nelson and L. S. Bambery.
Second Race—H. Weymouth (str.), S- B. Wallace, D. J. Wilson and H. R Watts beat R. G. Evans (str.), G. T. Watts, F. W. More and R. E. Garrett.
The selectors (Messrs A. R. Douglas and G. \an Slyke) announced the eight-oar crfew for the tournament as follows:—D. V. Alston (str.), S. B. Wallace (7), T. 11. M'Combs (6), T. Evans (5), D. J. Wilson (4), H. C. Holland (3), G. T. Watts (2), 11. Weymouth (bow), R. E. Garrett (cox). \ - Smith, D. E. Alexander, L. L. Hosking and F. W. More were chosen as emergencies.
