handicapper asked FOR AN EXPLANATION. A meeting of the board of the New Zealand Trotting Association was held yesterday afternoon, Mr J. H. Williams presiding. There were also present: Messrs J. R. M’Kenzie, H. O. Hariej*. IT. TV. Kltchingham. J. B. Thomas, R. A. Armstrong and W. Hayward. The Gore Racing Club forwarded its decision that the falling of Roselight and Sunny Dillon in the Electric Handicap was purely accidental.. The club's action was endorsed. To Show Cause. In connection with the ownership of the horse Stowaway it was decided that Ronald D. Allan and B. Lynskey should be called on to show cause why they should not be dealt with for failing to register a joint interest, and to ask Allan to. produce evidence of his ownership of the horse. Greymouth Club. On Mr M’Kenzie’s suggestion it was decided to place on record the board’s appreciation of the action of the Greymouth Trotting Club in putting on a three-year-old Futurity Stake. Mr M’Kenzie stated that the race was a very fine thing for the sport. A Record. Application was made by Miss E. Hinds for a certificate acknowledging the record time put up by her horse Harold Logan for two miles, at Addington. It was decided to issue a certificate setting out the size of the track and; the time registered by the horse. Invercargill Meeting. The Invercargill Trotting Club advised that at. its recent meeting it had imposed a fine of £ls on J. Walsh for negligent driving. Sanders’s appeal against the Vincent Jockey Club - was held over. Mrs HarralFs application for reduction of her penalty of twelve months’ disqualification was refused. Handicapping. The board having interrogated Mr Simpson on his handicapping at the recent Kaikoura Trottiqg Club’s meeting decided that it could not accept his explanation as satisfactory and informed him that in future the association would require him to conform to Rule 452 and strictly refrain from taking any action which would result in upsetting the handicapping system as set out in Rule 455. In- the matter of the handicapping of the mare Real Gil wh rh was nominated for the Greymouth Trotting Club's meeting, the handicapper, Mr G. S-. Simpson, admitted that an error h?id been made which he corrected as quickly as possible. The board having heart Mr Simp .Tin’s statement"' of all the cireumstaince-s his explanation was accepted. Hurdles and Steeples will be £IOOO instead of £2OOO, as formerly: while for each such race the sweepstake will be £5 instead of £lO. Reductions are also announced for the May Hay meeting at Warwick Farm.
