PROGRAMME FOR MAY MEETING.

COUNTRY CLUBS WILL RACE AT RICCARTON. A meeting of the executive committee of the Amberley and Hororata Racing Clubs was held at the Canterbury j Jockey Club’s rooms; present: Messrs. G N. M’Lean (chairman), H. M. Reeves, W. A. Kelcher, H. Oliver, L. G. D. j Acland and W. Deans. The chairman said that'he hoped that the two clubs would have a successful and profitable combined race meeting. The Minister of Internal Affairs wrote granting permission to race on tne l*iccarton course on May 2. The Canterbury Jockey Club wrote granting the use of its buildings and appurtenances and stating that no objection would be made to Mr PM’Nab’s acting as starter at the meetin The following officials went appointed for the meeting: Judicial stewards, Messrs W. It was decided that the charge for admission to the course be one shilling and to the enclosure four shillings (which will include admission to the course) and motor-cars two shillings, cars of members of both clubs to be admitted free. The following programme was drawn up:— Novice Stakes, of 100 sovs. For two and three-year-olds that have never won a flat race at time of starting. Weight for age: Two-year-olds 7.6. three-year-olds S.lO. Mares allowed 21b. Five furlongs. Sandown Hack Handicap. of 116 sovs. One mile. The G. B. Starky Memorial Handicap, of 260 sovs (a cup valued at 10 sovs, and 250 sovs in specie). One mile and a quarter. Teviotdale Trot Handicap (harness), of 100 sovs. One mile and five furlongs. Class 3.57. Hororata Handicap, of 100 sovs. Minimum weight 9st. To be ridden by hurdle or steeplechase riders (Part VT., Rule S. Clause (a), N.Z. Rules of Racing). Six furlongs. Amberley Handicap, of 115 sovs. Seven furlongs. Racecourse Hill Hack Handicap, of 10*‘ sovs. Six furlongs. Glendore Trot Handicap (harness), of 115 sous. Two miles. Class 4.56.
