IS AMY JOHNSON A SICK WOMAN?
POLISH PRESSMAN SAYS SHE SHOULD NOT FLY. (United Press Assn.—By F.lectrio Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received January 6, 1.20 pm.) BERLIN, January 5. The Warsaw correspondent of the newspaper “ Tempo ” reiterates the warning that Miss Amy Johnson will face certain death if she is forced to land in Siberia. She would have as much chance of finding a habitation in these wastes as of winning a lottery. The correspondent comments on Amy’s strange demeanour which “ gives the impression of the apathy of a sick woman, which does not appear to fit her for the undertaking,” and states that she should be prevented from continuing. Reports as to the extent of the damage to her ’plane are conflicting. The British United Press Berlin correspondent states that repairs are being completed to-morrow, when Amy will fly her 'plane to Warsaw for a complete overhaul. Further evidence of opinions regarding the Siberian flight is provided by the “ Lokal Anzeiger,” which states: “ With all respect to the youthful English pilot, it must be pointed out that good solo flying calls fot powers of orientation and meteorological knowledge, both of which, apparently, are defective. Three flying mishaps since the start cannot well be ascribed to mere bad luck.” The “ Tempo ” hopes that she will see in the forced landing in Poland the warning of fate and return to England. Another newspaper says that Amy has not paid attention to the advice offered by experienced aviators regarding routes and weather.
