It was largely through the efforts of young people that the work had been carried forward. The atmosphere of the ouiid ing would always be that of cheerful The Duchess of York said: “I should just like to say how very glad I am to be here this afternoon. I have been interested in the Mothercraft Training Society for many years and have watched it grow, and I know how very much this building is needed to help the work expand. I wish it continued success in its great work and it gives me great pleasure to declare this new Princess Elizabeth Hostel open.” She afterwards made a tour of the building.
