Mr G. Watt and family (Heathcote) are spending a holiday at Domett. Mrs T. Carter, “ Naumai,” is spending a holiday at Orari, South Canterbury. Mr and Mrs Twiss have returned from a motor tour of the West Coast. Miss Edwards, Miss Joan M’Farlane and Mr and Mrs C. Shepley (Wellington) are guests at Warner’s Hotel. Mr and Mrs M. Phillips (South Africa) are staying at the Clarendon Hotel. Mr and Mrs E. Dickey and family (Heathcote) have returned home after spending the holidays at Kairaki. Captain and Mrs Dilner were passengers from the north by the ferry steamer this morning. Mr and Mrs V. W. Colville and family (Heathcote) are spending the holidays at Akaroa. Mrs Bell and Miss Rachel Bell, Riccarton, are on a holiday visit to Hawke’s Bay. Mr and Mrs R. Browning and Miss M. Clark (Cashmere Hills) are spending a holiday at Lake Tekapo. Mrs Lewton and Miss Lewton, Southbridge, are spending the school vacation at New Brighton. Miss Leebody, of “ Hedgehope,” Invercargill, is the guest of Mrs A. Balneave, Southbridge. Miss Shona M'Cormick, Christchurch, is visiting her mother at “ Shrigley.’’ Little Rakaia. Mrs E. M’Leiland and family, of Tamutu Road, will leave this week to spend a holiday at New Brighton. Miss Betty Eggleton, Southbridge, and Miss Schnelle, “ Meadow vale,” Lakeside, are spending a holiday in Wellington. Mr and Mrs H. Mandeno, Miss Audrey Lilley and Miss Kitty Carpenter (Dunedin) are guests at the United Service Hotel. Mrs and Mrs A. F. Giles (North Auckland) are staying with Mrs H. D. Andrews, Armagh Street, for the Barker-Giles wedding on Thursday. Dr Gordon Rich and Mrs Rich (Christchurch), who have been staying with Mrs J. Thomson (Queensbury Hill, Central Otago), returned home on Sunday. Miss V. Butler, Riccarton, and Miss Gwenyth Greenall, Southbridge, are spending a holiday on the West Coast, and are staying at “ The Manse,” Greymouth. Miss Olive Lyons (England), Miss Doris Larkin (Hawke’s Bay), Mrs F. M. Robinson (Springfield) and Sister Bedggood (Ilokianga) are the guests of Miss Marion Giles, Cambridge Terrace. On her departure from lianmer, Mrs H. P. Phillips was met on Friday night at her house by the members of the P.W.M.U., and was presented with a handsome Greenwade floating bowl. Mrs Gemmell, president, who made the presentation, referred to Mrs Phillips’s many services and to the loss to the district her departure entailed.
