ANXIETY FELT FOR STEAMER PROGRESS
MAY BE SHELTERING ON COAST FROM GALE. Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, January 6. The small steamer Progress, which left Picton at II a.m. on Saturday for New Plymouth, has not yet arrived, and some anxiety is felt locally, although it is thought probable that the vessel is still sheltering on the coast. Under normal conditions the voyage should take twenty-four hours; but seas have been heavy since Saturday’s gale.
