FIRE NEAR BOTTLE LAKE HOSPITAL.

PATIENTS REMOVED TO PLACE OF SAFETY.

Fanned by a north-west breeze, a large scrub fire this afternoon menaced the Infectious Diseases Hospital at Bottle Lake. The fire spread rapidly in the direction of the hospital, ma*y large pine trees igniting.

The patients at the hospital warn «•> moved to safety as a precaution The fire started in the plantation mt the Bottle Lake Hospital soon spread over a large area. The pine trees soon became a blazing inferno. Although outside the area, the Central Fire Brigade, under Deputy-Superintendent Blake, rushed to the scene, using water from the hospital tanks. The blaze reaeshed within fifty j*ards of some of the buildings, and the patients had to be removed, while the fire-fighting apparatus at the hospital was kept ready. (Continued in Stop Press.)
