It was revealed during a court action in New York that Gene Tunney’s total fortune from boxing amounted to £348,456. Of this he received £198.000 for his fight at Chicago against Jack Dempsey in July, 1927, and £105,000 for fighting Tom lleeney in his farewell bout at the Yankee Stadium, in 1928.
