COLONEL CRESWELL MAY LEAVE LABOUR

IS OPPOSED BY PARTY CONFERENCE. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received January 3, 12.25 p.m.) CAPE TOWN, January 2. In conference the 4i Creswellian ” Labour Party carried a resolution declaring that continuance of the pact between the party and the Nationalists was no longer in the interests of Labour and calling on the executive to terminate the alliance before next January. The resolution was carried in the face of a strong speech by Colonel Creswell, who declared that termination of the Pact before 1934, when the next General Election would fall—if the present Government lasted the full term —would be politically dishonest. It is not improbable that Colonel Creswell may solve his personel problem by quitting the Labour Party and declaring himself a Nationalist.
