LIFE-SAVERS KEPT BUSY ON TARANAKI BEACHES. Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, January 2. Ten rescues from drowning ■were effected by life-savers on Taranaki beaches yesterday and to-day. Yesterday a child aged four was drowned at Kohl, near Waverley. Seven of the rescues -were effected at the Fitzrov beach, J'Jew Plymouth, by beach patrols, swimmers getting into difficultiesYn the surf. Four men from Okato were caught in the undertovy at Oakura. One, C. Wooldridge, is still very exhausted. The child drowned at Kohi, Ulric William Benbrook, was with a party who were picnicking on the bank of a stream. He was missed, and was later found floating downstream.
The extremely hot weather of the past few days has enticed crowds to the beaches. .
