RUNNING AND CYCLING HELD AT PREBBLETON. Perfect summer weather favoured the Prebbleton Amateur Sports Club for its open athletic meeting, which was held at the Prebbleton Domain to-day. There was a good attendance, and a good field faced the starter in most events, making proceedings interesting. The fflowing were the results:— Cycling. Half-mile Open Handicap—First heat: E. Prebble (85yds) 1, H. Sparks (75yds) 2, L. J. Sparks (80yds) 3. A. L. Giles (90yds) 4. Time—6l 1-ssec. Second heat: A. M. Rogers (83yds) 1. G. "W. Brett (50yds) 2, A. Grose (45vds) 3, S. Campbell (15vds) 4. Time—63 4-ssec. Final. L. Sparks l H. Sparks 2 Giles 3 The field was well bunched at the entrance to the straight, and in a fast finish L. Sparks jumped out to win by a length and a half, with half a length separating second and third. Time—--63 2-ssec. One-mile District Handicap (under sixteen) —A. Brown 1, R. Rogers 2. LarWon easily. Time—3min 13 Half-mile District Handicap (girls under eighteen)—-Miss C. Smith 1. Miss G. Johns 2. Won by twenty yards. Time—l min 14 2-ssec. Running. 220yds Flat District Handicap—C T M’Kenzie (Byds). 1, T. H. Wilhelm ’(18 yds) 2, R. Oliff (12yds) 3. Won by two yards, the placed men bemg seen in a fast finish. Time—24
