BEAUTIFUL MARINE CAVES DISCOVERED.
are said to outrival WAITOMO AND JENOLAN Per Press Association. BLENHEIM, January’- 2. During the Christmas holidays a series of very beautiful and ver/ extensive marine caves were discovered just south of Tory Channel. The entrance is secured by small, almost, concealed openings, but large launches can be taken right into the system. The main cave is described as having a very rugged roof, presenting all colours of the rainbow, and wonderful stalactites in beautiful shades of white, green, red and brown, with clear crystal, with wonderful blue and heliotrope shades and phosphorescent effects. In the opinion of Mr P. R. Wilkinson. Commissioner of Crown Lands, the caves outrival the famous Jenolan and Waitomo, being of an entirely different nature.
Further exploration Is being carried out. The discoverers were M,essrs J. and G. Perano. of Whekanui, Betty Best. Rav Wilkinson and John Best, of Blenheim.
