Asleep At Eight.
To the Editor. Dear Sir, —Would you allow me a small space to give vent to my feelings of a person who signed himself “Sleeper.” I would like in the first place to contradict his statement about Christchurch being the noisiest city south .of the Line. This, I must say, is a statement made by a man who has not travelled to any of the cities south of the Line, and does not know what he is talking, or rather gabbling, about. The man who says that he is wakened by the continual blowing of a siren at 8 o’clock in the morning should be earning his living at 12 o’clock midnight. But, no, the man spends most of his time in bed and is therefore awakened by motor-bikes at twelve. To my way of thinking all ablebodied respectable men are up at 8 o'clock, so it leaves me thinking how “Sleeper” exists. Probably if he would publish his name and address the owners of these horrid motor-bikes would stop a few doors from his place and walk past his residence. In concluding, I would suggest that “Sleeper” read the letter of “Why not get up.** It may do him good.— I am, etc., ANOTHER EARLY RISER. *
