“ MYSTERY AIRMAN.”
1 The following paragraph appeared on the front page of a London newspaper on October 14:— A light aeroplane landed at Croydon yesterday afternoon, and from it stepped a young man, who announced his intention of starting at 4 am. today on a flight to Australia. After stating that his name was Oscar Garden, and that his home was in Christchurch (New Zealand), he climbed back into his machine and flew away. Aerodrome officials have no idea where he came from. Mr Garden will have to complete Customs formalities before he can leave, and the Customs officials will not begin duty until 6 a.m.
