Don’t make the mistake of putting too many blooms in one vase so that they press together and some of them lose their share of water. Use several vases; apart from being better for the flowers, one or two flowers arranged artistically look much prettier than a large bunch. To keep tile flowers fresh put a pinch of bi-carbonate of soda is the water, and change it every day. Cutting the stalks now and then helps to prolong their life. To improve the flavour of oTd potatoes and prevent them turning black add a little milk to the water in which thev are boiled.
