CENTRE DECIDES THAT LATE ENTRIES ARE VOID. A meeting ot the executive of the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic. Association was held last evening, the president, Mr E. H. Cross, presiding. Others present were: Messrs M. Leadbetter, G. G. Lockwood, R. Beattie, E. A. Sayers. E. Todd. A. E. Purse, R. Hill. D. W. Bain and G. L. Austin (secretary). Messrs Purse, Cross, Beattie and Lcadbe-tter were delegated to represent the centre at the meeting to be held at New Brighton for tho formation of an amateur cycling club. An application for reinstatement as an amateur cyclist was received from James Magee, of Christchurch, who had competed last as a professional in 19 27. The cycling committee recommended favourable consideration of the application. It was decided to forward the application to tho New Zealand Council with a favourable recommendation. It was decided to forward an application for reinstatement from Ronald Duncan Cameron, of Pendarves. who last ran as a professional two years ago, And was stood down last year, with a favourable recommendation. The Wellington Centre forwarded applications for reinstatement from Charles Robins, who last competed as a professional in 1925, and Stanley Austin, who also last ran in 1925. It was decided to forward the applications without recommendations. The New Plymouth Centre wrote asking permission to pay the expenses of F. Grose to New Plymouth at Christmas. Permission was granted, but the members expressed the opinion that Grose should appear in Chrirtchurch. The programme for the Springfield Club’s meeting on December 27 was approved. Approval was also expressed of the programme for the Kirwee Club’s meeting, but it was suggested that the club should hold the gathering later than January 10, the date proposed. The Amberley Club’s programme for its meeting on New Year’s Day was approved providing the cycling committee’s recommendation that the lap prizes in the cycling races be cut out was complied with. The programme for the Prebbleton Club’s meeting on January 2 was approved. The minutes of the annual meeting of the New Zealand Council, which stated that the Dominion championships in track and field events, and also the cross country race, would be held at Auckland, were received. Bain were appointed a sub-committee t.o make arrangements for a ground for the Canterbury championships if Lancaster Park was not available on March 7 or 14. On the motion of Mr Lockwood it was decided to advise all clubs that it was their duty to keep the grounds reasonably clear during meetings, and to see that the competitors appeared on time. The meeting reaffirmed is decision of two years ago that no late entries should be received for any meetings.
