TWO POINTS OF VIEW.
CWLMMING AND LIFE-SAVING are advocated as a compulsory subject in schools for two reasons. The Royal Life Saving Society favours it from the point of view of saving life, either by the prevention of the danger, or by the rescue of the endangered. But the strongest reason for making the subject compulsory is the healthgiving value of swimming and exposure of the body to sunlight. Resistance to disease can be built up as readily as resistance to cold, and sea bathing is an ideal means to that end.
