LIQUOR IS NOT NEEDED IN AIR.
LOCAL AVIATORS GIVE OPINIONS ON SUBJECT. Local aviation experts disagree with the opinion expressed by Major Beaumont, of Imperial Airways, that liquor should be supplied to pilots and passengers in aircraft. Major Beaumont contended that liquor was necessary both as a preventive against airsickness and as a stimulant owing to the intense cold of high altitudes. Local pilots are unanimous in vetoing the supply of liquor to those using the air. They said that they did not think that it could stop air-sickness,, and pilots and passengers should go prepared for the cold encountered in flying. If liquor was introduced into flying it would have the same effect on pilots as it had on motor-car drivers, and the results would be far more serious. It was pleasing to note that tlie majority of pilots in the Dominion were teetotallers.
