MATANGI TOUCHES A LEDGE IN THE SOUNDS.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, November 27. Owing to a jam in the steering gear, the Matangi took a sheer while passing Queen Charlotte Sound last night and touched lightlv on a ledge in the vicinity of Walker's Rock. After ascertaining that there was no apparent damage, Captain Hay proceeded on to Nelson. As a precautionary measure, the Matangi will go cn the patent slip on returning to Wellington and undergo i examination.
