UNION ROWING CLUB. Four very evenly-matched crews competed for the Louisson Cup, a fouroared race. The preliminary heats were ro-.ved on Tuesday, and the final on Wednesday, the results being as follows: First heat—C. Cooper (stroke), W. L. Whittington, E. R. Saxb3*, J- Soelen beat U. Duggan, W. Greenway, G. Greenway arid W. Rhind by half a length. Second heat—G. Butler (stroke), G. Toner, F. Rogers and E. Rhind beat I. Thomson (stroke), K. Brown, L. Inns and G. W. Crockett by three-quarters of a length. Final—Butler’s crew beat Cooper’s by half a length. In each heat the crews rowed practically neck and neck until a hundred yards or so from the finish, and the form shown was particularly good for so early in the season. Most of the competitors have had only a season’s experience, and the form in this event and in the President's Cup race, decided last month, indicates that the elub possesses some excellent racing material for representation at the various regattas.
