GARDEN PARTY FOR WIVES OF FREEMASONS.
The wives of the visiting delegates to the annual communication ' of Freemasons, which opened in Christchurch yesterday, were entertained yesterday afternoon at a delightful garden party held at the beautiful home of Mrs David Crozier, Fendalton Road. A large marquee erected on the lawn was prettily decorated with pink coral and antirrhinums and provided a sheltered spot for afternoon tea. In the house, palms and maple trees were used to decorate the hall and large receptionroom. The guests, among whom were the wives of the Christchurch officers, enjoyed putting matches and tennis in the garde.n, and canoeing on the Wairarapa stream, which borders the lovely grounds. Later, when the rain somewhat marred the enjoyment of the afternoon’s entertainment outdoors, various amusing competitions were held in the house. The winners were Mesdames Simpson, Alpe, Ilart and Miss Flavell. Music supplied by a radio concealed behind a bower of palms, was appreciated by the guests. Arrangements for the entertainment of the visitors during their stay in Christchurch are being capably carried out by the following committee:—Mesdames John Du Feu, Clifton Bingham, Alan Fisher, Hobbs, Borthwick, C.
