FLIES SOUTH ON SATURDAY NEXT.

RECEPTION TO OSCAR GARDEN AT SOCKBURN. Mr Oscar Garden will arrive in Christchurch from Wellington on Satur. day, and arrangements have been made by the Canterbury Aero Club for a public reception at the Wigram Aerodrome. It is expected that Mr Garden will leave Wellington about 10 a.m. on Saturday, and after stopping at Blenheim for lunch, will fly on to Christchurch, where he should arrive at 3.15 p.m. ’Planes will be sent out to meet him at Kaiapoi, and will escort him back to Wigram. People attending the reception will be charged Is for admission, and the whole of the proceeds will be presented to Mr Garden. Returned soldiers will give their services free in order to cut down expenses and ensure Mr Garden receiving a good purse. On Saturday evening the airman will be driven . around the track at the broadsiding at Monica Park, and on Monday evening he will give a talk about his flight from 3YA. Accompanied by two of the Canterbury Aero Club’s ’planes, he will leave Sockburn on Tuesday morning for Ashburton, and from there he will fly on to Timaru. Extensive arrangements have been made for a welcome at both these places. Mr Garden will stay at Timaru until December 4, when he will leave for Oamaru.
