Mr and Mrs G. Murray, of Sumner, are at present away on a holiday. Mrs W. G. Jamieson, Riccarton, is visiting Auckland. Miss V. Bowie, of Auckland, is visiting Cashmere Hills, Christchurch. Lane (Oamaru), and Mr and Mrs W. G. Hay (Dunedin) are guests at the Clarendon Hotel. Mr and Mrs C. 11. Hewlett and Miss Alice Hewlett, Feudal ton, have returned from a holiday visit to Rakaia. Miss Stella Murray, who gave a successful recital in Dunedin last night, will return to Christchurch on Friday. Mr and Mrs Alan Copeland, Sydney, who are at present in the North Island, will visit Christchurch towards the end of next month. Miss Bromley Cocks, who was the guest of Miss Enid Bell, Lowry Bay, during the Plunket Conference last week, has returned to Christchurch. Mrs Randal Burdon, Woodbury, South Canterbury, who has been in England for some months, arrived in Christchurch this morning. Mrs 11. Wales and Mrs Philip Greenwood (Cashmere Hills), and Mrs 11. Wyatt (Papanui), who have been in Wellington, have returned to Christchurch. Mrs D. W. M’Lean, Stratford Street, Fendalton, who has been visiting Mrs Robin Harper, “Four Peaks,” is now the guest of Mrs C. L. Orbell, “Pentlow y Miss Jocelyn Bloomfield, who has been spending several months visiting friends in Canterbury and different parts of the North Island, has returned to Auckland. Miss C. Lascelles, the well-known Victorian golfer, who played in the New Zealand Golf Championship Tournament, will arrive in Christchurch tomorrow for a short visit. Professor J. Macmillan Brown and Miss Helen Brown, “Holmbank,” Cashmere Hills, who have been visiting England, are expected in Christchurch on Tuesday morning. Mr and Mrs S. P. Warburton, of Bradford, Yorkshire, England, are now in Auckland. Later they will visit Christchurch, where Mr Warburton will attend the wool sales. Sir Francis and Lady Colchester Wemyss, of Ravensworth, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, will arrive in Wellington next month and will be the guests of their Excellencies the GovernorGeneral and Lady Bledisloe. Mr and Mrs W. T. Smellie (Dunedin), Mr and Mrs N. Rout (Nelson), Mr and Mrs L. H. Labone (Wellington), Mr and !Mrs J. C. 11. Beynon (Pretoria, South Australia) and Mrs V. F. Northote (Waiau) are staying at the United Service Hotel. Mrs G. Hampton Rhodes has kindly offered the use of her beautiful grounds to the St James’s Ladies Guild for a garden party on Saturday next. The Woolston Band will be in attendance and there will be folk dancing, competitions for golfers and refreshments. Also cake and sweets stalls. Mrs 11. T. J. Thacker presided yesterday at a meeting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Returned Soldiers’ Association. Final arrangements were made for the bridge party, to be held in Jellicoe Hall to-morrow evening in aid of the funds of the association, and it was reported that every effort had been made to ensure the success of the gathering.
