LATE SPORTING.

GALLOPS AT ELLERSLIE. (Special to the “Star.”) AUCKLAND, November 25. The near approach of the Takapuna meeting gave the Ellerslie tracks a busy appearance this morning, when the semi-final gallops were held. All fast work was carried out on the No. 3. grass track with poles 10ft out from the rails. The weather was fine, and the going was good. On the No. 1 grass track Eager Rose was allowed to run along freely over a round which occupied 2min, the last mile taking lmin 52sec. Good Idea ran five furlongs comfortably in lmin 11 3-ssec, and Royal Menu got to the end of six furlongs in lmin 26sec. Respirator and Manawhenua were companions over a mile, but the latter was finishing on better to run the last seven furlongs in lmin 37 3-ssec. Operatic left six furlongs behind in lmin 20 l-ssec. He is improving with every gallop. Tetrachate and New Boy were companions over six furlongs in lmin 18 3- This was the best effort of the morning over the distance, and both did their work well. They ran the first thre£ furlongs in 36 3-ssec, and finished together. Corinax had Sleepy Sol and Bennie to assist him over a mile. They ran the distance in lmin 46 l-ssec, with Corinax in front. Corinax is steadily returning to form, but he may need a race to show his best. Brampton, Neil and Principal had little separating them at the end of seven furlongs run In lmin 37 4-ssec. Sir Mond shaped attractively when comfortably beating Red Lion and Kairuri over seven furlongs run in lmin 34 2-ssec, a pleasing effort. Sir Mond has done _ nicely since winning at Whangarel, and should run well in forthcoming engagements. After moving off slowly, Royal Tea got to the end of five furlongs in lmin ssec, the last four taking 50 2-ssec. After breakfast, Llanore ran home from the seven furlong post in lmin 35 4- but could have done better. Bonny Lea registered 53sec for half a mile, and Currajong,'moving well within himself, traversed seven furlongs in lmin 36 2-ssec. Spring Abbey and Leasehold ■were together while running six furlongs in lmin 22 l-ssec. Both were going comfortably throughout. At Takanini. The weather was fine and, despite recent rain, the tracks were in good order for training at Takanini this morning. Rosshire was a length ahead of Treasury at the end of six furlongs run in lmin 20 4-ssec, but the latter lost that margin at the start. Clopton and Chief Joy were on terms over six furlongs run in lmin 20 2-ssec. Tea Chat and Chief Jewel ran half a mile In 49 3-ssec,a good gallop. Camp Princess beat Ti Tree over si:: furlongs in lmin 21sec. Ammon Ra (Greenhalgh) and Fedora (Jones) were sent four furlongs, being accompanied over the first three, which took 37 l-ssec, by Speedmint. The full distance was covered in 50 l-ssec. King Willonyx and Treasury ran five furlongs in lmin ssec. Treasury did not work with his usual dash. Sargon went a mile in lmin 44 3-ssec, the last six furlongs taking lmin 19 ”-ssec. Bronze Eagle, Queen Papa and Bugle Call were sent over three furlongs, which they traversed in 38 3-ssec, Bugle j £all pleasing most. ! Vandyke was not cjoing his. best to "un six furlongs in lmin 21 2-ssec. Refresher went nicely over five furlongs in lmin 9 4-ssec. Amber Link and Brazanna ran two furlongs in 27 l-ssec.
