HEAVY SNOWSTORM HAS DELAYED SHEARING.
One of the severest storms that has been experienced for a long time passed over the Tlalkett district on Sunday. During the forenoon rain commenced to fall, but soon after mid-day the temperature became much colder, and for tyro hours snow fell. As an indication of the intense cold, the thermometer reached the low mark of 36 degrees at 2 p.m. For the five hours that the storm was at its height one inch of rain fell. As shearing is in full swing in the district, the storm is sure to be responsible for some deaths amongst the newly-shorn sheep. During the past fortnight there has been good growth in the crops, and a number of paddocks of Algerian oats are out in ear. A fair acreage of has been drill ed, but up till the present it has not made much growth.
