COCKNEY DIALECT IS DYING. REPORT SAYS. LONDON, November 2.",. As a result of two years’ investigation directed by Sir Hubert Smith. Director of New Survey of Life and Labour in London, and chief Economic Adviser to the Government, it is stated that Londoners are more sober, healthier and better educated than forty years ago. A Londoner consumes 50 per cent less alcohol, smokes twice as much, travels more, spends four times as much, reads four times as many books, and is less inclined to crime and violence. The Cockney dialect is disappearing, but the Cockney twang is spreading to other classes.
