THE LETTER OF ELIZABETH ANNE.

PRISCILLA, MY DEAR,— I agree with you that pearls are more youthful looking than some of the very barbaric jewellery one sees about now, and I feel sure you will love to get some of the new seed pearl ■ornaments which are just coming into fashion again. The other day I noticed a manypointed star brooch, which would look so charming at the neck of a white satin blouse, made of lots and lots of tiny seed pearls—near pearls, of course! And a flat, wide necklet made of tiny pearls attractively strung together would be ideal for the jeune fille’s first evening frock 1 And earrings have followed this pearl craze, too, for one that took my fancy particularly was made of round clusters of seed pearls hung from a smaller cluster. This jewellery, which is so dainty-looking, is coming into its own again, as in our grandmother’s day brooches and ear-rings in these designs were greatly in vogue. Can you believe it, Priscilla, but the latest idea is not to have tinted finger nails, but tinted toe-nails the same colour as your bathing suit! A friend of mine who is at present visiting some

of the fashionable seaside resorts at ! Home wrote and told me that she saw j a little blonde girl in an emerald green beach pyjamas with emerald green toenails to match. This has brought in the vogue for sandal shoes with wide openwork. The last-named will be popular this season on some of our beaches. I bought a cookery book the other day that has some awfully good and “different” ideas in it. One of them is a delicious liam-and-pineapple combination that you might like to hear about. Now that pineapples are so cheap it is a most economical dainty. Fry a slice of ham, remove it from the pan, put in some round slices of pineapple, and cook them until they arc brown on each side. Place them on top of the ham and serve one slice of pineapple with the ham to each person. This looks nice and tastes heavenly! And Priscilla, as you are always having luncheon parties, and looking for something new in the way of table decoration, herd is the latest idea, straight from London: An iridescent Venetian glass bowl filled with goldfish to stand on your polished table. I think the guests would think it most original. Ever yours, ELIZABETH ANNE.
