RACE DAYS TO BE CUT DOWN IN QUEENSLAND.

(Special to the “Star."') BRISBANE, October 3. Drastic restrictions are to be imposed on Queensland racing by the Bill which the Premier introduced to Parliament yesterday. Based on the Racing Commission's report, race days are to be reduced, for registered clubs to sixty-two a year, and fifty-two a year for unregistered clubs. The Queensland Turf Club will be the authority to allot the registered meetings, and unregistered days 'will be the Treasurer’s responsibility. At the end of 1931 unregistered rac-j ing will l>e stopped altogether. At Kedron Park not nfore than twelve horses are to compete in any race, and when courses do not exceed one mile in circumference not more than fourteen horses are to compete. If the Bill becomes law, bookmakers may sue and be sued for betting debts. In order to safeguard their health, excessive weight-reducing will be checked, as no jockey will be allowed to ride at less than seven stone. MELBOURNE NOTES.
