LABOUR WILL NOT SUPPORT REFORM.
DEBATE ON BUDGET KEENLY AWAITED. (Special to the “ Star.") WELLINGTON, July 29. The atmosphere is electric in anticipation of the financial debate and its possible consequences to the Government. There is a rumour that: the Refonn Opposition intends to submit a noconfidence amendment designed on sufficiently broad lines to justify- Labour support. All three £>arties held caucus meetings to-day for discussion of the Budget situation, *md it was gathered from Labour members, who hold the key- to the position, that they will not commit themselves to any Reform amendment, involving consequences not only to the taxation policy, but the ultimate fate of the Unemployment Bill and the Workers’ Compensation amendments. They' are withstanding anti-Government pressure from their Trades Hall supporters.
