MAN INJURED BY FALL UNDER TRAM.
CARRIED 300 YARDS ON LIFE-GUARD OF TRAILER
Mr George Bailey, of 20, Dilworth Street, Lower Riccarton, had a miraculous escape from death on Saturday evening, when he fell under a tram trailer and was carried for th<re© hundred yards on the life-guard. Mr Bailey sustained a fracture of the pelvis and also suffered shock. He was admitted to the Christchurch Plospital, where it was reported this morning that his condition was satisfactory Mr Bailey attempted to board an out-bound Riccarton tram from the wrong side at the Hospital Corner. The tram, it is thought, was in motion at the time, and, unnoticed, he fell between the tram and a trailer. He was caught up on the life guard and carried to the Cricket Ground stop, where a conductor, investigating a bumping noise he had heard in the run from the Hospital Corner, found the injured man.
