INQUEST HELD INTO DEATH IN CELLS.
FRANK V. GULLY DIED AT POLICE STATION.
The circumstances surrounding the death of Frank Vincent Gully, who died in the cells at the Central Police Station on the night of July 15, were investigated by Mr E. D. Mosley, Coroner, in the Magistrate’s Court thie afternoon.
Sergeant Kelly represented the police.
Dr E. F. Thomson, pathologist, said that the cause of death was bronchopneumonia. There were no signs of chronic alcoholism, though there was strong evidence of alcohol in the stomach.
George Couttie. a labourer, employed by the Public Works Department at Motukarara, said that Gully had been employed in a gang under witness. lie left Motukarara on the day’ previous to his death. His health had not been good and he had been in bed for a week before he left Motukarara. He had said at one time that he had double pneumonia. (Proceeding.)
