CASES HEARD TO-DAY IN ASHBURTON COURT.

(Special to the “Star.”) ASHBURTON. July 11. In the Magistrate’s Court, Mr C. R. Orr-Walker presiding, judgment by default was given in the following cases:—“Mail and Guardian” v. T. Skilling, £1 Is 6d; J. R. Williams and Co. v. H. Isaacs, 15s Bd. James M’Grath was ordered to pay Maling and Co. £lO 19s fid and costs £1 Is forthwith, in default ten days’ imprisonment, the warrant to he suspended if he pays £3 per month. Frank Weir was ordered to pay Murdoch Bruce £3 5s 7d forthwith, in default three days’ imprisonment. On a charge of using an unlicensed lorrj', David Joseph Kelly was fined £5 with costs 10s. On a further charge of using a lorry with no assignment numbers, he was convicted and discharged. Hillier Willis Gaudin was convicted and discharged for driving a car with out a license. For using an unlicensed lorry, Janies Joseph O'Reilly was fined £5 and costs 10s. On a charge of driving without a tail-light he was fined £1 and costs 10s. A fine of 30s and costs 10s was imposed on Donald M'Guinness for failing to drive a horse and cart on the correct side of the street. Thomas Suffield Morgan appeared on a charge of being in possession of an unregistered shotgun, for which he was fined 10s and costs 10s. On a charge of discharging the gun to the danger of passers-by in a public place he was fined £1 and costs 10s.
