YOUTHS PRETENDED THEY WERE DRUNK
Sydney Frederick Plummer, a shop assistant, aged twenty-two years, and Cyril Edward Anderson, a salesman, aged twenty-one years, had a celebration last night which restated in their appearance this morning before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., in the Police Court charged with disorderly behaviour. Both were convicted and fined 20s, in default seven days’ imprisonment. Senior-Sergeant O’Gradv said the two men were observed at the corner of Manchester and Armagh Streets pretending to be drunk, singing and making a noise. They finished up by jumping on a sign. They were followed and arrested in Oxford Terrace. Anderson said he had got work and was out celebrating. “Have you anything to say?” the Magistrate asked Anderson.— “We had no drink at all, sir.” “Young fools, aren’t you?” “Yes, I suppose we are.”
