SOUTHERN CROSS TO END LONG CAREER
KINGSFORD-SMITH GIVES HER TO MR HANCOCK. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copy right.) NEW YORK, July 8. A message from Santa Maria states that, after presenting the Southern Cross to Mr Allen Hancock, backer of his trans-Pacific flight, KingsfordSmith flew to San Simeon, California, for a holiday. The return flight on Wednesday will end the ’plane’s career. A crowd of 10,000 persons greeted the Southern Cross on its arrival at Santa Maria from San Francisco.
