FIVE DROWNED IN FLYING BOAT CRASH
MACHINE CAPSIZES IN ROUGH SEA ON BALTIC. < United Press Assn.—By Electrie Teleerranh—Cooyrisrht.) (Received July 10, 11.20 a.m.) BERLIN, July 9. Five were drowned, including four passengers, one of whom was an American woman, when a Dornier Wal flying boat employed in the Stettin-Stock-holm service came down in the Baltic Sea after a broken crankshaft had caused the propeller to splinter, tearing the wing and destroying the wireless aerials. The flying boat drifted in a heavy sea for several hours. A schooner which arrived on the scene was unable to take off the occupants and began towing the machine, which capsized. The pilot, the mechanic and a passenger were picked up, but the search for the others was fruitless.
