PERSONAL.
Sir Charles Clifford arrived from the north this morning. Drs M. G. Louisson and E. Teichelman arrived from the north by this morning’s ferry steamer. Messrs A. C. Wilkin (Auckland) and J. Wood (Wellington) are staying at Warner’s Hotel. Messrs W. N. Thomson and E. E. Lane (Wellington) are staying at the Clarendon Hotel.
Mr T. D. Burnett, M.P., and Mr J. Bitchener, M.P., were passengers from the north this morning. Messrs R. M. Doughty, F. A. King, C. Sander, W. H. Marshall (Wellington) and P. R. Rogers (Melbourne) are guests at the United Service Hotel. Mr W. Hayward, chairman of the United Party Executive in Christchurch, will represent the Executive at Sir Joseph Ward’s funeral at Bluff. The Rev C. G. Scrimgeour, of Auck land, who has passed the pilot’s test, has been appointed Chaplain to the New Zealand Air Force.
A motion of sympathy with Mr J. A. Flesher in his illness, was passed at the annual general meeting of members of the Canterbury Progress League to-day.
